The PADI Basic Freediver course is your first step into the fascinating world of freediving.
It's not just about holding your breath—it's about learning to do it in a safe and comfortable way.
You’ll practice vital breathing techniques and basic skills that will help you enjoy freediving fully.
### Pre-requirements
Before jumping in, there are a few things to check off your list:
- You must be at least 12 years old.
- Good swimming skills are a must! You should be able to swim 200 meters without fins, or 300 meters with a mask, snorkel, and fins.
- Prior experience in other water sports? That’s great, but not necessary!
### Course Requirements
To complete this course, you’ll need to:
- Hold a static dive for at least 90 seconds.
- Accomplish a dynamic dive of at least 25 meters.
### The Course Includes
Here’s what you can expect when you sign up:
- A theoretical part that lays the groundwork.
- Two pool sessions (or sheltered water sessions) where you’ll practice.
- Certification at PADI, which is a big deal in the diving community.
- All the freedive materials you’ll need.
- Optional DAN insurance during your training—just let us know when you register!
- Access to PADI Freediver Touch™, an interactive study tool that allows you to learn at your own pace.

The PADI Basic Freediver course is part of the full PADI Freediver course. It is a first step to get acquainted with freediving. You will learn the basic freedive disciplines in the pool and focus on practicing breathing techniques, among other things.
You practice basic skills to hold your breath in a safe and comfortable way. This training does not include depth, for this you can follow the full PADI Freediver course.
Pre requirements
To participate in the PADI Basic Freediver course
- You are at least 12 years old.
- You have good swimming skills and are able to swim 200 meters non-stop without fins, or 300 meters non-stop with mask, snorkel and fins.
- It does not matter whether you have already practiced other (under) water sports or not.
Course requirements
